Vollrath VCBF168-37 Triple 2.6 Gallon Frozen Beverage Machine

I ordered this machine a year ago and after various warranty calls I was not able to get it working and the technicians gave up on the machine saying that it was an electrical problem but the electrician came to property multiple times and made sure the electrical was good. I'm being forced to throw this into the trash only a year after purchasing.

This machine has been nothing but headaches. Received on May 5 2020. 1 of the lid clips was broken on receipt, not a major issue. At day 2, one of the motors was shot. Had it fixed under warrenty and was told they have many issues with this machine. Bought another they suggested to have 2 machines. Within 2 months, the fixed motor starts being very loud and sounding like it was on its death bed again. Less then a year, a second motor starts sounding loud. The second motor has now quit and am waiting for the replacement to quit. The switches from slush to cold rarely seem to work so most mornings I come in to solid ice and have to shut off completely. This machine for the money should last much longer than 15 months. I will be replacing in the near future and definitely not going with Vollrath. Out of warrenty and now basically a paper weight.

The final outcome may raise or lower my rating but so far, after less that 2 weeks in operation, we are pretty displeased with the qualify of this unit. At least the refrigeration and agitation system has not failed like the Narvon unit I bought on the Webstaurant site - but it has a lot to be desired. We installed the double-wall bowls and I reviewed them separately - I think they have caused much of our problems. In general, it is not a well-documented machine with few instructions. It includes 4 legs to raise the unit (we're guessing) but there are 6 short versions - so we assumed they go in the corners with no support needed in the middle?? You set the freeze temperature but the indicator is not visible without moving the machine away from the, not an easy task on a standard depth countertop. The handles freeze up with ice above the plungers and plastic has broken off a number of places. It looks beautiful so it got 2 stars.

Installed October 2022. We had it too close to a wall in its first location and it wouldn't freeze product because the vents were being blocked. We then relocated it to an area were the unit could breath properly and it worked perfectly. It has been 7 months now and have not had a single problem. 5 Stars!

I've read other the other reviews on here, and can say without hesitation these are the best slushie machines we have ever purchased (we have had 3 other types of machines). We bought the first unit in June 2019, a second unit in April 2020, and third unit in May 2021. We run our machines between 12-14 hours a day, 364 days a year. We have never had issues with them, other than the occasional over freezing. When we adjust the settings depending on the ambient temperature, we have no issues. We have purchased double walls for each of the bowls. The first major issue is a motor in one bowl on the machine we bought it 2019 just went. Easy replacement, and we're back up and running.
