Plus everything keeps blocking the spout when you try to drain out the stock. I thought this would save the hours of nonstop china cap straining, then cheese cloth straining to get a good stock. Wonderfully huge pot. This pot replaced all the smaller containers we were using since we cook in bulk. Everything fits perfectly in to this one and it maintains the heat for hours!
I started using this pot for shrimp boil. These pots are huge and can hold all the potatoes, shrimp, corn on the cob, and sasauge that I can cram into the pot. Thanks to the drain I don't have to lift the huge pot off to drain. I can open the valve and away I go. Unlike the cheap pots these will not burn out when I use it under my 150k propane jet burner.
The 60 qt stock pot with faucet from Vollrath is pretty simple, but very well made. Vollrath is one of the very few manufacturers that will have large stock pots with a faucet, at a good price.
I actually needed this pot to make bulk amounts of loose tea, with the faucet piece, it was much easier to strain the tea into a another container leaving the loose tea behind.
This is a great stock pot for overnight simmering. The faucet makes it extremely easy to strain once the stock is finished. the filter makes it so no particles get into the faucet and jam the flow.
