Town 47402 7 1/4" Onion Knife

The design of this knife is a swayback paring type knife so the handle is larger than the blade and the knife's edge is flat. It lends itself toward holding backward and cutting fruit and vegetables against your thumb. It would be perfect except the edge is ground a 1/2 inch away from the handle so it's hard to get a good grip with your hand to reach the useable edge. Normally on these knives the edge starts at the handle because that's the part of the blade you use the most when held backward. It's still an ok knife for the price if you are going to be draw cutting small stuff on a board but if you plan on cutting off of your thumb it doesn't work so well. I'll sharpen it up and find someone to gift it to.

The quality of this onion knife is ok for the price. I was having a hard time cutting onions but they work better for me on other foods like cucumbers. Knifes are always needed so I'm satisfied with my purchase.

This is a really great onion knife it works perfect for peeling the skin off of the onion if you want to leave it whole and not cut it in half works really good

This is a very good quality onion knife at a reasonable price. The blade is the perfect length and width for cutting onions or any other small items. Clean up is very easy. Would recommend!

purchased this for my grandmother who uses onions alot, thinking it would make things easier,; but the blade is not sharp like it looks and actually causes more of a delay than help

Bought this knife on impulse; not sure what it is supposed to be used for. The name and product page suggest cutting onions with it but I would much rather use a larger knife. Instead, I keep it in a cup of misc. items and use it for opening boxes, cutting plastic packing strips or packaging, etc. Comes quite sharp, feels okay in hand, inexpensive. A tad unecessary, but the value is decent.

This is a convenient knife you can use for any type of food you want. It's great to have on hand for that smaller quick job you need it for.

Generally I like a knife with a bigger blade than this especially when cutting onions. However I have learned to absolutely love this product and use it daily!

I really enjoy Town brand products. They always seem to come with very thick high quality blades. Out of the box this is not very sharp but it sharpens up great and is a perfect specialty knife for in the kitchen.

I had high hopes based on the other reviews, but I wasn't particularly impressed with this knife. the blade isn't set very tightly in the handle so it wiggles a bit which could prove to be a problem. its also not that sharp. i'm sure it could be sharpened, but usually new knives are sharper than this. luckily it's not a particularly expensive product.

I love this so much. I wish there was a higher rating to give it. It makes cutting onions and other things so much easier. An item that they should tell home cooks is available, but don't. I will make sure that I always have a few of these.
