This matcha whisk, or chasen in Japanese, is handmade with 100% high-quality bamboo to provide you with the perfect cup of authentic matcha every time. With its fine consistency and tendency to clump when mixed with water, matcha powder can be difficult to blend. This whisk's bamboo construction and 120 bristle-count is specifically designed for mixing the powder into a uniform consistency with just the right amount of foam.
To make matcha, combine 2 oz. water with 1 tsp. of matcha in a chawan bowl or round bottom bowl. Using the matcha whisk, rapidly whisk in a M- or W-shaped motion until no clumps remain and you have an even layer of foam on the top. Simply add water, milk, or your favorite dairy alternative and pour over ice if desired. Before use, you can dip the chasen in hot water for approximately 30 seconds to soften the bristles and ensure a longer lifespan.
The whisk is easy to clean, and only needs to be rinsed with warm water. To properly store this matcha whisk, use a porcelain matcha whisk holder (sold separately) to maintain the whisk's shape and extend its life. It is important to never store the whisk with its bristles directly touching the surface it's being placed on, as this can increase the risk of breakage.
