Taylor TE66OS 66 lb. Digital Portion Control Scale with an Oversized Platform

I ordered 2 of these scales. In excited anticipation, I opened the first one. After plugging it in, I pressed the on/off button. It clicked and powered on. Although the tactile feel of the button was clunky and cheap. I pressed the on/off button again and it shut off. When I pressed it again, there was no click and the unit didn't power on. Repeated pressing yielded the same result. The second unit I ordered did power on and function properly. However, the overall feel of the scale is clunky and cheap. I contacted Webstaurant to return the defective item. After over an hour chat session with support, I was told before I could return the defective item for a refund, they would have to verify with Taylor that they were willing to cover the scale under warranty. Furthermore, I was told that it could take up to 9 days for them to determine if Taylor would cover the item. I would not recommend this or any other Taylor product.

I purchased this because I need a larger capacity scale for my bakery. I was very excited when it arrived today but I am disappointed that the scale does not work. The attached video demonstrates how it does not detect weight compared to my current scale. I am scheduling the return of this item immediately.

I’ve had a Taylor before and loved it. This scale came and didn’t weigh accurately at any point. It has sat on a shelf for the last year and a half, collecting dust. In the market again for another scale and made sure not to buy this one again. Figured I’d leave a review finally.

Poorly designed for use with the AC adapter. The interior female portion of the plug is only held on by a nut and washer on the outside of the unit. If the nut becomes loose and falls off, the inside piece falls into the unit, rendering it impossible to plug the male portion of the adapter into the unit because it's no longer there. The entire unit has to be taken apart to fix.

The scale was totally inaccurate, I tested it with our other scale as it just seemed off. Hopefully customer service will re fund me soon. It seems it takes for ever for them to process my request. The txt chat is really slow and convoluted.

This scale was perfect, until it wasn’t. I bought this scale about 5 months ago, and we use it for all of our 20 QT recipes. All of the sudden, it started giving us an error message and we can no longer use it, as it just says ERRR and shuts off. Very disappointed with its lifespan.

Good size & an easy clean! Cord is pretty long as well so u won't have an issue plugging into your outlet.

This scale is large and has many useful buttons on it. The digital aspect is great. We use it a lot and it has not broken yet. Very pleased.

Taylor makes a solid product. Purchased this scale to replace another Taylor scale that took a hard fall (after many years of service) and broke. Would definitely recommend this brand and product.

We have been using this scale for over a year with great success. We use it for large batches of green coffee, weighing roasted coffee into retail bags, and also in the kitchen for baking. It holds battery charge for a long time and is accurate in finite measurements as well as bulk. Will order a second for our kitchen soon.

Had this scale for only a few months and all of sudden all the buttons started to malfunction. The tare button would not reset the scale to zero and the on/off button would not turn the unit off had to be unplugged. Don't waste your money.

I couldn't resist this scale, as it seemed to be the best combination of capacity and features for consistently measuring dry and wet and very heavy to fairly light materials for our wide variety of surface treatments in the theater. Loved the option to plug in or use batteries. And, easy to clean and keep clean. For the first afternoon, it worked great, starting right up and apparently calibrated accurately. The readout display is excellent, very legible in size and contrast between display and background, and including an indicator (small circle) that the reading is complete is a nice touch. Changing the functions and units was easy. Absolutely perfect, until it just stopped! Switching from plug-in power adaptor to fresh batteries did not overcome the issue.. Getting ready now to pack it back up to send to the manufacturer per warranty instructions. Super disappointing and an annoying waste of time.

The oversized platform is great so we can fit a large mixing bowl on it without worrying about the bowl flipping over. The option to have it operate on battery is helpful too, so we don't have to worry about needing to use it close to an outlet

Weird to start a one star review with the phrase, “I love(d) this scale!” But it is true. When this scale was working, I absolutely loved it. It worked fabulously for about 7 months, then the chip fritzed out or something-- the display was gibberish and would flash to different configurations-- so Webstaurant replaced it immediately. The replacement worked for about another 10 months, then nothing would happen when I pressed the power button. I tried using batteries instead of the cord. No dice. Since I had surpassed the manufacturers one year warranty, which is based on the original purchase date-- even though neither scale worked for a year--Webstaurant was unwilling to replace the scale a 2nd time. Too bad. I really wish that Taylor would make the scale more durable, even if that means a higher price for us. The scale has so many great features, it would be worth it to me to pay more for one that actually continued working.

Used this scale ONCE. After that it wouldn’t turn on. If I plug in the adapter it will very VERY faintly show up in the screen but will turn off in a blink of an eye. Bought batteries thinking that would do it...to no avail. Very upset.

A great economical choice for a heavy weight scale. It is nice that it works off batteries for power so you can move it around without cords.

Perfect for weighing ingredients in large containers. Good ratio of accuracy to capacity, it's hard to find that in a scale in this price range.

This is an amazing scale. For working with heavy batches of sourdough bread (and occasionally other items), it's so simple now to place the 30 qt mixer bowl on the scale, and add water, starter, and flours straight in. It saves a lot of time and dishwashing by not having to scale separately in a variety of containers. It starts counting at 10 g and goes up in even increments. If you need to use any odd numbers, this isn't the scale for you, but considering how high the capacity is, you're probably not measuring things where 1 g of something is going to make a difference.

Bought this so I would have everything ready for my busy season. I failed to fully test it before I needed it. Found that the scale was DOA. Lights come on, appears to work, but does not indicate any weight at all. Has a one year warranty. But since I didn't return during Webstaurant's return window, am waiting up to 2 days to see what to do. I may have to buy a different scale, from a faster turnaround source.

Bought 2 of these. One quit working within a month. The other is ok, but the plastic cover on the display delaminates and gets stuff behind it so its hard to read. I would not buy again.

This scale is great for portioning and ingredient weighing. The platform holds a 5 gallon bucket, and we use it to weigh out coffee for flavoring and blending. When we bag our coffee on our other state approved scale, the measurements always come out the same as this Taylor scale.

Durable, easy to use, and easy to clean. One of the best investments I've made for my kitchen. I eventually bought 2 of these scales in order to have more than one person use them at a time. I got the new updated model and love it just the same as the first!

The scale worked well for about for about 5-months then it suddenly stopped working. It's fairly accurate; however, given its limited lifespan, I don't recommend buying this scale unless you're on a tight budget or need something that won't be used often -- as mentioned before, it did the job while it worked.

I love this scale. It is extremely accurate and can measure in a variety of units. The large platform makes it simple to make sure nothing is hanging off the sides, giving you the most accurate reading possible.It can be powered by ac or battery power for convenience. The best thing about the scale is the ability to remove the stainless platform. I'm not sure if it is the intention of the design, but if you store the platform upside down nothing can press on the springs, So when and if somebody stacks something on the scale it will not be damaged by the heavy weight.

LOVE the oversized platform on this scale. The scale is easy to use, compact enough for small spaces, and tares easily. Have not had a single issue with it.

We purchased this scale to use for dough portioning and the product arrived defective. The scale will not zero out, as it will bounce back and forth to varying degrees of weight after removing the item. When we tried to return the scale, we were asked to "calibrate" the unit before they would proceed in the returns process. We are currently awaiting their response, but find it frustrating to jump through these extra hoops when our time is so limited.

I have used one other digital scale and I always prefer to use this one. It is accurate. Usually has about a two year life before it starts to act funny.

Great scale with a large working surface area. Why four stars? Because the power jack broke after just a couple weeks. Webstaurant service is incredible though, and the issue is resolved.

I like this scale. It has a wide top so you can place large bowls on it and still see the numbers. I like that I can plug it into the outlet so I don't have to eat up batteries. I would say that this has been my longest lasting scale. My only complaint is that it doesn't measure fine amounts accurately. If you are working within a few grams you will not get an accurate reading and you may need a better scale. But if you are working with heavier weights this scale does the job.

Great portion scale. The cord breaks easily. We just started using batteries because we could not find a power cord. I going to find a power cord online

This scale is nice and compact but big enough for my needs. It has a very low profile which makes it easy to store. I would buy it again.

We use this scale when we take inventory and I like the larger surface area, which helps stabilize containers and makes reading the number easier. My own mistake in this purchase was underestimating the weight threshold. I should have gotten one that had a higher capacity.

This scale is good for the price. The only thing I don't really like about it is it doesn't weigh in tenths of a pound. Instead it weighs, for example, 3 lb 9 oz instead of 3.75 lb. In that we primarily use decimal place when weighing by the pound, it's a bit convenient. We made a conversion chart to take care of the concern. What I really like about this scale is the large platform, excellent for weighing product in full size foil pans.
