Ideal for medium-volume operations, this compact, space-saving unit fits perfectly in kitchens with limited space. With an efficient 1/2 hp motor and large 45" product table, this slicer creates consistent, uniform slices out of large cuts of meat, cheese, or other product. Operated by a simple on / off switch with a power light indicator, the 12" long hollow-ground, chrome-plated carbon steel knife can slice precise thicknesses up to 9/16" for ultra-fine, tissue-thin cuts or thicker slices.
This slicer is constructed of durable stainless steel and the anodized aluminum finish promotes quick, sanitary cleaning and long-lasting durability. It boasts a top-mounted, two-stone knife sharpener to continuously maintain a sharp blade and has a carriage that accepts food up to 10 3/4" x 7 5/8" x 7 3/8" in size. The removeable sharpeners also help simplify the sharpening process. For safe use, the motor is completely enclosed with a no-volt release feature, and a permanent knife ring guard is included to always cover the non-slicing portion of the knife. This slicer can be disassembled without tools for easy cleaning at the end of the day. Plus, the removable carriage makes thorough cleaning easier. It requires a 115V electrical connection for operation.

Exceptional quality and design. Easy, well thought out disassembly for cleaning. It is very heavy so having it's own space will make your life easier. I've read another review complaining of excessive plastic use. Can't see how this complaint could apply to this model (Berkel B12-SLC). Plastic is used but only on the handles and control knobs. These plastic components are heavy and durable. (Anything in red on the pics is plastic. Those handles and knobs are very heavy grade. Only one plastic component is lighter gauge, that being the guard around the sharpener.) Our only complaint with Berkel is in regard to their packaging. Berkel ships in a greatly oversized box with foam pillows surrounding the fully assembled slicer. As the appliance itself is not secured to anything, there's too much room for movement.
