I've experienced the same issues that Alvin T. from Mary B's Southern Kitchen did. Nemco is awesome at almost everything they make for the kitchen, but this patented opener is not the winner I hoped it would be. Only tried two cans so far but neither would open. It could be that I'm not using it right, but I read the manual, watched the videos, and tried opening two cans about 10 times each. I ended up cutting myself on some tiny metal filings that this opener cut out of the can and have a bloody finger to show for it. I'll be calling WebstaurantStore tomorrow to arrange an exchange for an different opener. Sorry Nemco.

I am compelled to share my on going struggles with this can opener. We are a high volume production kitchen that opens 15-20+ a day. We began noticing that it will not open particular #10 cans with a higher lip, also experienced the gripping and cutting functions started failing after a month of use. I actually returned this item to NEMCO under warranty and they sent it back to me with nothing changed or information on what was going wrong other than Over rotation will cause undo ware and metal shavings! We purchased this item to be a safer, more efficient kitchen which has been the opposite of our experience. After the cost + in extra parts, cutters, turners, & sending it out for repair. I am giving up and ordering a different product. Great in theory not in practice.

This can opener is very different from other can openers. It basically separates the lid from the can where it was press down into the can. The problem I had was getting the lid out after separating it. The other problem was some cans would not open no matter how much I tried. I called the customer service at Nemco and the young lady I talk with was no help at all. She bacically said I'm stuck with an opener that will not open all cans.
