This Galaxy 2 Stage Electric Sharpener seems to be a fairly reliable unit for the low price point. I purchased the sharpener to use on mostly cheap chef/utility knives for the restaurant, and it will serve this purpose. I will note that the unit seems to lack power so you have to be aware of your pressure while sharpening, or the stones will stop spinning. Other than that, the knives are coming out sharp and will work perfectly for most tasks.

The edge that this produces is stunningly sharp: better than many professional sharpeners have managed on my knives before, especially those that started with 20 degree edges. It's really easy to use, though not totally skill-free - the guide slots ensure a perfect angle every time, but you have to pull the knife through evenly with care, and get the timing right. The manual that comes with it is quite thick and explains how to deal with different knife variations. It handles both hard and expensive knives and cheap ones with equal effectiveness. It's a beast of a machine, solid and heavy, which is very reassuring. Not too noisy in use, though. It is powerful enough to restore chipped and slight nicked edges so old knives work better than they were when they were new. Definitely good to have on hand in the kitchen. Very easy to use, especially since it is electric. Doesn't take long to sharpen knives, just a couple pull throughs.

Not a great sharpener. Biting in on the back of my knives towards handle. If you want your knife to look good, electric sharpens in general seem to damage the look of the knives. I was warned but bought the sharpener anyway. It is hardest on paring knives. Also seems to be no way to clean sharpener like more expensive models.

This thing ( I can't realistically call it a sharpener) is a hot piece of garbage. The instructions are indescript and extremely vague. After 5 knives with 2 pull through each the following knives came out full and motor was running rough. The "polishing" wheel doesn't polish at all but does make the blade as dull as when you started.

This unit is underpowered, Too coarse, Honing side is not true. Moved from box to table to garbage in about 4 minutes. I guess it might be better than nothing so I gave it 2 stars.

It’s an okay knife sharpener. If you’re not careful with your pressure in using the stone side it will deform your blade. In short I’m not really happy with my purchase.
