No, the lid is intended to keep containers sealed off from contaminants. It does not provide an air-tight seal and is not leak-proof.

These hold product well and are decently liquid leak proof or resistant. The only issue is that there is some loose rough exposed plastic on the inside center bottom, which could leach into food or break off eventually. Hopefully into the sink and not into product. I only noticed this on one of the three (other two were in use), but will check the rest when they free up to see if this was a minor defect on one or they are all like that and adjust review accordingly.
