Until now, ADA compliance with most sanitary napkin vendors has been questionable. Bobrick’s new series of push button vendors are ADA compliant. That’s right, they operate with one hand, with less than 5 pounds of force, and no tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. The single coin jam-resistant mechanism accepts US or Canadian quarters only. One or two, depending on the desired price of the vended product. The patron merely pushes a button for either a tampon or napkin product. This is an effortless mechanical operation without the need for batteries or electrical power. Notice how easy it is to access the sanitary napkin from the product tray without reaching inside the vendor. The new vendor is so reliable, it hardly needs service. The custodian knows the vendor is empty when the red refill indicator appears in the coin slot. The custodian opens the vendor door by unlocking two tumbler door locks, which are standard and keyed like other restroom accessory cabinets. Speaking of locks, there is a separately keyed coin box lock for management access. Loading the vendor is quick and easy. The tampon channel offers extra capacity for 30 tampons. The napkin channel holds 20 products. Also note that there are no weights on top of the product channels. Converting from one 25 cent coin operation to a two coin 50 cent operation or vice versa is a simple field procedure. All you do is exchange this one part and replace the price label. Let’s examine the jam-resistant features. Bobrick’s new vendor accepts 2 coins for 50 cent operation in a single slot as opposed to 2 side-by-side slots which are known to jam. There is a coin return should the patron change her mind. With the push of a button, the selection is cancelled and the coin easily drops down into the product tray. And, when inappropriate coins are used, such as pennies, nickels, and dimes, they bypass the mechanism, dropping down into the product tray without jamming the vendor! Another way of jamming conventional vendors is putting in a coin when the product channel is empty. With Bobrick’s new anti-jam design, the coin slot is blocked and will not accept a quarter until the product is refilled. If you’re installing a vendor in a wall with a large existing wall opening, a matching satin finish stainless steel face plate is available. Now you don’t have to risk ADA compliance questions or violations, because Bobrick’s series of push button sanitary napkin tampon vendors are ADA compliant, and Bobrick’s sanitary napkin tampon vendors are green, fabricated of 60-70% recycled stainless steel.
