Just the right size scoop for a large 35lb bag of rice, beans, flour, or any other dry good in storage. The 5.5oz size is a nice size for this purpose, not so large that it can't be used to transfer goods to a smaller canister, but not so small that it takes endless scooping. The finish on this Vollrath scoop is nice. The edges aren't too sharp, and certainly you could use this for scooping ice if the cold transferance to the handle didn't bother you.
