The history of the GreatNeck company began in 1919 when Samuel Jacoff and his wife began a hacksaw blade manufacturing business. A fire destroyed their building in 1929, but they recovered by merging with another blade making company called Great Neck Manufacturing. By 1941, they had acquired a handsaw company and built a new plant in Mineola, NY.
