This pitter is unusually sturdy. Unlike plastic pitters, which break fairly easily, I expect this one too work for many years. The weight of the metal also feels nice in the hand. However, there's a major flaw: the hole through which the pit is pushed is too small for many pits. I used this with both black cherries from the store and sour cherries from my tree, and both times, I struggled to get the pits to pop through. Some cherries needed to be turned sideways to get the pit to go through. Sometimes the pits would get wedged in the hole and I'd have pop them out before I could pit another cherry. It slowed the process considerably. All things considered, it's a disappointing product.
