I have the shelving that is in the black epoxy. I would suggest not buying it in this color. I have bought many of these in chrome and have not had a problem at all with the assembly. This time I have had a terrible time with the assembly. The supporting plastic sleeves don't want to stay in place when the shelf is lowered down onto them and the sleeve slips out of place. I am wondering if the epoxy is filling in the groves a bit and inhibiting the sleeves from being able to fully grasp the column, by way of the groves. I have never had this problem with the chrome shelving units and I think that that they are an excellent and well-made product. I have assembled a multitudinous amount of these shelves, and this is the first one that I have had a problem with the assembly
