1.5 oz. whiskey
Ice
Fresh orange slices and maraschino cherries, for garnish
1. Add sweet and sour mix and whiskey to a shaker glass filled with ice.
2. Shake cocktail and strain into a rocks glass or old fashioned glass.
3. Garnish with a fresh orange slice and a maraschino cherry, and serve neat or chilled over ice.

Rose's beginnings date back to 1867 when Lauchlin Rose patented his process of preserving lime juice without using rum, which happened to be the same year that the 1867 Merchant Shipping Act, a law that required British sailors be provided lime to protect them from scurvy, was passed.
