Regal Brown Mustard Seed - 6 lb.

Like; Quick but expensive shipping to Hawaii but not unusual. Like; Great packing and jars/jugs. Dislike; Cannot ship to my UPS store. Leaving big boxes if front of a house open invitation for porch pirates. Not sure like/dislike yet; I use the seeds in a recipe and these seeds did not adsorb the liquid stock it soaked in. I adjusted the amount of seeds and it did seem to help when I mixed it in a food processor. The texture seemed good and I will test it later. Like: Would use Webstaurant again without a doubt. I ordered some of this Regal Black Mustard Seed and the Regal Brown Mustard Seed, and they are basically identical except for the label (and this black mustard seed had a "best by" date with less than a month left to go). It's good brown mustard seed, but if you want actual black mustard seed you probably don't want this.

Black mustard seeds are often eaten whole and fried so I tried adding them to an egg for a sandwich. They added a nice crunch! I can't wait to try them in other ways like garnishes to other dishes.

What is really cool is that I asked Webstaurant to stock black mustard seeds and they did! I used to have to buy them from other online shops, supplied by various vendors. Black mustard see is one of those things that varies quite a bit based on where it was grown. It is nice to have a stable source of quality black mustard seeds. I use these in making my own mustards and the flavor is excellent.
