This iron has many good qualities. I have approximately 50 of these irons and have been running them for about 10 years. Generally speaking the repairs are minimal. However, most irons today have the option of teflon nonstick grids. These do not. The manufacturer offers silverstone which operate fine until the inevitable buildup starts. Cleaning silverstone is not possible which would necessitate purchasing another set of grids. Teflon is more forgiving. This is definitely an issue for this iron. Additionally, the 980 watts limits the recovery of the iron during the cooking process. The actual temperature drops during the baking of the waffle causing undercooked waffles depending on the mix used. These things give consistently beautiful waffles. Waffles are a hot item on our menu and we could not make it without a top-level waffle iron.

Finally found a replacement for our Wells brand units. The Wells were our brand of choice, however the Wells go in to the shop every 6 months. The Nemco brand is lasting longer and is a fraction of the price.

This unit arrived damaged. Then, after we used it to test out a few waffles, (seriously like 3 waffles! )the pin that holds in the waffle grid in place broke. You would expect this thing to be solid. Seriously disappointed in this thing.

This is a great waffle machine. We leave it on for the entire 8 hour shift and it cooks like a dream. It heats up really quickly between waffles too.
