I was very happy with this brush initially. It still works better than most other brushes I've bought but the bristles are starting to come off and it looks pretty much used up. I've used it about 12x. See the photo.

I recently used the Carlisle Sparta Spectrum 2"W Boar Bristle Pastry / Basting Brush with Hook to apply egg wash on bread baked in the Baker’s Lane 1 lb. Bread Loaf Pan, and it’s a reliable, functional tool. this brush excels at retaining thin liquids like butter, olive oil, or egg wash, ensuring even application.

Used to be a great product but for the past year the bristles have been falling out like crazy. Getting in customers food really not good!

We bought these as a recommendation from another for butter basting. They hold the butter pretty well in the bristles, however, they are a pain to clean thoroughly. After a while they start to deteriorate to the point that the bristles fall out, probably from all the cleaning. They are very difficult to keep clean.

Great brush have been using these since culinary school. Boar bristle won't melt like plastic ones can. Hook for hanging it on the side of a container.

I do not recommend the boar bristle brush. The bristles come loose very easily and may end up in the food you are planning to serve.

Very study brush that can be used for differential applications. The handle holds and the bristles do not fall out. We recommend this product

Follow your food code and don't let the inspector cite you a violation for not having the appropriate basting brush, don't go cheap and buy a home depot ones, this is the correct one and you are not gonna regreted.

I’ve tried silicone brushes but the bristles either break or don’t hold enough of my marinade liquid. After giving this boar bristle brush a try I threw away my silicone one. Just clean it immediately after use and lay flat to dry. No lingering smells or odors collect from previous use. The handle is nice to keep your brush from contacting any other surface when in use.

this is a durable pastry brush, so durable that the bristles will not come out of its housing. at least mine is still working solid even after use of about 5 years.

I love this brush. I had one for years that finally wore out and couldn't find another until I saw it on here. These Work Great!

These brushes are durable and last a good length of time. We use them for buttering bread and buns. I would say they are great for pastries as well!

you can't go wrong with a carlisle product. these are nice because the hook allows the brush to hang above the melted butter we use it for. quality is very good.

Great product at a good price. We use this to brush garlic knots with garlic butter and it works perfectly. This should hold up well over time.

It is a Durable brush that is easy to clean. It will lose an occasional bristle. The built in hook feature is very useful for us.

I purchased this to use for basting butter on garlic knots, etc. This works wonderfully! It absorbs enough of the butter to give a good coating each time.

Nice simple boar pastry bristle great for using on pastry or even just spreading butter on biscuits or toast and for the price can't go wrong.

This nice 2 inch brush is perfect for using for your pastry goods like a pie we use a mixture of milk egg and butter gets deep down in the crevices I don't worry about the bristles falling off it's a very high-quality brush and will always keep purchasing these boar bristles

Excellent pastry brush because it has the hook that hooks onto the side of the pan and prevents the brush from falling into your liquid.

Item is exactly as described. Good quality and comfort. After use with flat top applications item will slowly deteriorate as expected when dealing with hot surface applications. Have continued to reorder item and never been disappointed.

After using boar's hair brushes you will never go back to those annoying rubber-bristled brushes. Those may be easier to clean but they just don't work as well as the real deal.

These are great brushes. The quality is on par with any other brush I've used. The hook on the back is a great feature. We haven't had any issues with the bristles melting.

The bristles do not fall out like the wooden handled brushes, very economical to purchase so I won't feel bad about tossing them after they've run their race

If you're looking for a wide pastry brush - then look no further! This is a favorite of mine as it makes quick work of brushing pastry dough with egg wash, butter, or water (as the case may be). It is dishwasher safe, and as will all bristled brushes, I like to gently tug at the bristles before each use to make sure none are loose.

Have had mine for a few years now, its used on an Espresso Bar. It has outlasted all the cheap ones and DOES NOT loose bristles! Will never order another kind!

Overall I am satisfied with this brush. The notch in the handle is nice for hanging it off the edge of a cup. I have noticed that the bristles are getting a little ragged looking, but to be expected after being put to use.

these are the best brushes that we were able to find. We are using them every day and they hold up well to the daily use. They don't loose their hair like other brands did. Since we are using them on a daily basis we change them out for new ones every 3-6 months.

Perfect to butter fresh out of the over loaves. Held enough butter to need only initial dip. Brush had no loose hairs. Easy to clean.

We have this brush on our flat top in a pan of drawn butter. for toast and sandwiches The bristles have held up nicely to a lot of use and abuse. You can brush the grill directly and the bristles don't burn or melt. It can get knocked off the hook fairly easily, but other than that it's a good brush.

I use this brush a lot. I love the little hook on the side. The bristles are soft which makes basting and brushing easy business.

Great wide and soft bristle brush - the hook is great for sanitary storage in between uses hang it on a 1/6th pan - the bristles will melt on high heat

These are wonderful and i love the little hook to hang it on a pan. The bristles are light enough that it does not deflate my proofed rolls and they hold a surprising amount of liquid. Love love love this.

Man, I really wanted to buy the more expensive version of this, but common sense prevailed. It works great, and the hook on the side of it keeps it out of the butter spread that we use. NOT very heat resistant - it melts pretty quickly on heat.
