I bought this for personal use, and found it to be a wonderful flavor enhancing additive for a great pot of soup. It was a bit too rich when used alone with a normally salty meat like crab meat, if used as directed. My first attempt was with Cream of Crab soup. The first batch was far too salty, because of the additional salt contained in the crab meat. With a bit of tweaking however, it turned out absolutely great! I'll share the recipe for anyone wanting to make some. Ingredients: 2 lb Fresh Lump Crab Meat 1/2 lb Unsalted Butter (Must b e unsalted) 1 or 2 sticks of Celery finely diced 1/2 Gallon Whole Milk (not half/half - Using butter) 1/3 Cup All Purpose Flour (Will absorb more salt) 2 tsp Nutmeg 1/2 tsp Allspice 2 tsp Ground White Pepper 2 Tbsp "Old Bay" Seafood Seasoning 2 Cups Chef's Companion Soup Base Pre mix 1/2 of the milk with Chef's Companion Read More

Made some great CHEESEBURGER SOUP with this cream soup base in about 15 minutes. Fried some chopped onions, celery and hamburger, added 2 quarts of water to half of the package of soup base along with some American cheese. Flavor was great without additional seasonings. Great!

We bought this item based on the description and the picture of the soup by the description. It turned out the powdered cream soup base provided us with additional benefits. First it added a lot of flavor to the dish and secondly, acted as a thickener.. We exhausted the initial purchase so fast we had to order and buy more immediately.

I always have some of these in my pantry for impromptu soup creations. This is a great base that can be doctored to fit just about any cream soup that you could want. One of my favorites is my smoked pulled chicken and vegetable. This is a great base to start from!

What an easy convenient mix for so many recipes it has become a kitchen must have and turns out beautifull every time my favorite is the pasta sauces I create with it!! Yum!

This soup base makes very thick soups and sauces. It's very salty and so I use it sparingly. I mix half the recommended package with other mixed vegetables and still get the gallon of soup. But that is my preference because I use very little sodium. It is so convenient to have this soup base, especially during the winter time. It cooks really fast and tastes really good .

A nice powdered cream soup base. Cheaper here than any of our other distributors. Makes a thick cream soup that doesn't break down. Nice to use in a pinch. Customers love our cream of mushroom soup made with it.

Not as good as a scratch made soup base but this taste just fine considering it can sit on a shelf and wait to be used for a long while.

Can't say enough good about this product. I use it a great deal. Just the other day I was called upon to knock out a cream of mushroom soup. I mixed some of the soup base into chicken stock and started that on the stove as I sauteed some shallots, brown mushrooms and fines herbs -- added them to cook for a few minutes before running through it with a stick blender. I had the bowls plated with a swirl of heavy cream and chopped parsley and ready to bring to the table in less than fifteen minutes. The soup was greeted with raves. This is a lifesaver in the kitchen. I buy lots of it....SIX STARS!

Great soup base, makes one gallon in total, but the texture is nice, and you can make so many different soups, perfect quality product from webrestraunt.

The instructions tell you to use this entire package to make a large pot of cream soup base - however, I use just a bit of it in my soups to thicken them up and add a different depth of flavor. Works great!

we didn't really care for this, the directions of liquid to powder seemed off. we used it to make a creamy corn chicken chowder and it just seemed very watery despite the fact that we did drain the corn. most likely will not use again.

Ok quality. This is an inexpensive cream soup base but is inferior to the name brand in taste and quality but I have been using the other brand for 30 years and may be prejudiced against other cream bases

we tried this to make our clam chowder and cream of mushroom soups.using real cream is much better than using this product.my customers would not accept this

The Chef's Companion Powdered Cream Soup Base is a great convenience product for quick, hearty dishes. I had good results with this product for Chicken and Dumplings, and will purchase again.

We have used this cream soup base in our corn chowder, fish chowder and as a thickener in our stews. It has a pleasant flavor and adds a nice texture to our cooking.

This is the first time using an instant soup base I love it My husband cant have dairy products so this woks for us I made potato ham soup with it he ate five bowls with no problems I put a container in the freezer thawed and reheated no breaking of he base looked just like when I made it Now I want some broccoli cheese soup using this love it

Good tasting cream soup base, keep in mind it has MSG so if you are allergic or don't like MSG then be aware. its a great value if you are in a pinch

This is a staple in our kitchen. Using real cream or roux bases for soups can break, especially when adding cheese and look terrible. But this soup is an insurance policy against that. It is emulsified and creates a perfect texture & flavor for any of your soup needs. I've used more than called for to make a thicker product for macaroni & cheese or sauce for scalloped potatoes. Can't say enough good things about this soup base.

What a value for quantity and quality. I have used it as a cream soup base for everything, but also I have used it as a great substitute for any recipe that requires milk.

I needed a great value cream soup base to substitute for the one I currently use as it was discontinued from my distributor. the product worked very good and had good flavor. However it is not vegetarian. Has chicken in the ingredient. If this is not a concern, a great product to buy.

Chef's Companion Bulk Powdered Cream Soup Base. What a great product to have on hand for last minute cream sauces. I would like to see better directions though. I had to experiment a bit to find the proper quantities for my use.

this works very well for making cream of brocolli, spinach, potato or any other type of creamy soup. I love to use this as my base, then flavor with chicken, mushrooms or other vegetables. It's fast, easy and good. A bif help in the kitchen.
