Reviews for 5 lb. White Cake Mix - 6/Case

I almost always bake everything from scratch at my bakery. I tried this and it baked really dense and it smelled like a dead carp! I won't use this again.

This cake mix is pretty good. It's a little on the dry side unless you add other ingredients to moisten it. I would recommend for large quantity.

Working with the white cake mix was great! The final product produced a nice consistence to form evenly round cake balls. I will buy this product again and recommend others as well!

This was probably the most dense cake I've ever made. I tried mixing longer, mixing less, adding baking powder, adding baking soda, adding both baking powder and baking soda, ginger ale instead of water, baking at a higher temperature, baking at a lower temperature... No matter what I did, it always came out incredibly dense. The flavor is a mild vanilla, perfect for fixing up to meet specific cake needs, but it is just soooo dense.

Same results and opinion as expressed under pound cake, Old Tyme brand by National Food. Horible, cheap flour, bad results

tried the cake mix but it wasnt that good. it was.lacking chocolate flavor.so i tried adding some unsweetened chocolate and it came out much better

Would not recommend this mix- it has sort of a strange, plastic smooth texture and is very spongy (but in a not-good way LOL). It also is NOT brownie-like at all. As a general rule, I give all five star ratings to Webstaurant products, because they are almost always fantastic. I have not been impressed with this mix, or the cookie mix that I tried.

The brownie mix taste good but I add milk, oil and a little vanilla to bring out the taste. I use this brownie mix to make brookies and other treats.

Mix was a little flat. I had to add eggs to get desired constancy of sponge layer. Mix was priced right just not the quality I desired.

Absolutely some of the freshest cake mix I have tasted and doesn't go stale after a few days like most. I recommend purchasing a cake cover to house the mix. It also has many purposes.

This cake mix is easy to use and bakes up nicely. I can add different flavor liquids rather than water to create a delicious custom cake. (Irish Cream cupcakes, anyone?)

Who doesn't love a good yellow cake with chocolate icing. We have quite a few request for a good yellow cake, it also makes a beautiful Lemon Cake which our customers swoon over.

This cake mix took a little getting used to. We don't follow the directions anymore as it kept turning out runny and a pourable consistency. The flavor however is really good and we can do all sorts of things with it. adding food coloring or extracts is easy. Beware of the instructions, but otherwise, good buy!

This comes out a little dry, but it is easy and it does make a very good cake. A little butter and vanilla flavoring and an egg...and everyone thinks that I made it from scratch.

So far I have loved it. Bakes up fluffy and tastes good. I add extra flavoring to it to make sure it tastes good. I think the flavor overall is a little bland but with a little flavoring it is pretty good!

This cake mix is aweful. It wasn't dense but it has a very "box" mix taste....it's almost flavorless except for that taste. The color varies from the edge to the center drastically which is why I'm guessing they pictured it with the edges cut. I could never serve this. Now I'm stuck with 5 more bags and my kids won't even eat it. SAVE YOUR MONEY...would never buy this product again.

This chocolate cake mix is much better than the name brand sold in Dollar Stores. It's not as sweet and didn't make me feel bad after consumption. It's a great carbohydrate source and taste great. I highly recommend this chocolate cake mix.

This specific cake mix was not to standard for me. The flavor was off, I tried to add extra flavoring and it still had an after taste that I dislike a lot. I will not recommend this product.

This cake mix is a bit dry and flavorless, but works for us well because we cover it and ice cream! I add a little oil to the mix to help with the dryness.

Do not purchase this product. This is the worst and I mean by far the worst cake mix ever created it is dense no matter what you try to do it is not even edible. I tried reaching out to the company and they were so rude about it to have this many bad reviews and not improve or pull the product is absolutely ridiculous.

A truly preparation labor saving product. This cake mix helped us to cut preparation time to only 6 minutes. The cake mix is also giving us value for money. The only complaint from our patrons is that it's too sweet (sugary). Nevertheless, we have even reordered.

I love this five pound cake mix. I make cakes and cookies and they are delicious. I actually make my cookie dough and freeze the cookie dough. I later unthaw my cookie dough and make my cookies as I need them.

This was a very tasty vanilla cake and baked perfectly. It held up very well as a two layer cake as well as a two tier cake with supports. Thanks for another great product!

This mix was a bit confusing to use, and when I did follow the directions, it used came out as a sloppy mess. I was really looking forward to using this too.

We usually love mixes from Old Tyme because they are easy, fast, delicious and certified vegan, but this mix was a little dry and less flavorful than the others.

This is a delightfully mediocre cake mix for when your teen asks for nothing other than a rainbow layer cake they saw somewhere on the internet and you are so overwhelmed at the construction aspect that you simply can NOT put together your own cake recipe. This is great for that.

This is good pound cake mix. It can easily be turned into any flavor pound cake with the use of extract. I used it to make lemon pound cake it came out good.

This is good, but i would much rather make my cakes from scratch, it taste better, this taste ok and it will probably be easier if your on a big hurry to make chocolate cake..

Terrible texture! does not taste anything like Pillsbury or Betty Crocker, etc. It is heavier, fake vanilla flavor, rougher texture, corn bread feel, just not good at all. I would never ever purchase again. I am donating the mix to food bank cause my name is not going on this stuff. I should have known but they did not offer name brands for cake mix sale. This stuff is sub par.

We weren’t a huge fan of this product but I bet if someone had a good sense of what to flavor it with they would have better luck. It taste bland and has a very dense texture.

PLEASE. Do not order this product. It is so awful I don't even know where to begin. The mix itself is gray, not brown, and smells bad, nothing at all like chocolate. It doesn't rise and it's mushy no matter how long you cook it. I am a professional baker and a culinary school graduate. I've never seen anything so bad in my life. i should have listened to the other reviews. Unfortunately I missed the window of time where I could return the product, however when I contacted customer support they told me they don't offer returns on this item at all so it looks like there was never hope for getting my money back from ordering this product. Same goes for the other flavors. JUST DON'T ORDER IT.

This is a good pound cake mix. I used it for a wedding and everyone loved it and could not stop talking about it after tasting it.

I personally was not impressed with the texture and weight of the finished product. We followed the directions, that are printed on the bag, and you have to piece the ends together to read the full instruction. The texture was more like a bran product and the cakes were extremely heavy.

this definitely isn't the best cake around, but to be fair no boxed/bagged mix is. for that it is, it works fine. it makes a passable cake, but i wouldn't expect to win any awards with it. if you need to make a huge batch or are on a budget, it's perfectly acceptable.
