The Shank's 16 oz Imitation Vanilla is a really solid and consistent imitation vanilla at a bargain of a price on WebstaurantStore. In terms of flavor, its about what you'd expect from imitation vanilla, a sort of flat traditional taste that works as a background note but not what you want to use if Vanilla is the star of the show. I like Shank's compared to some supermarket generic imitation vanilla because it has less alcohol in the base, more sugar water (syrup) as a preservative which in my opinion gives it a cleaner flavor and also helps it incorporate more evenly than the pure alcohol based imitation vanillas. In the world of imitation vanilla at this price point, it likely won't get any better.

I'm really enjoying this vanilla. The taste is very strong, just a little bit goes a long way. The price is great, and you get a lot of vanilla.

cheaper version with the same quality as the top brands. great for baking and infusions.

In or ice cream production I prefer to use vanilla is all our creations. I find Shank's is more than adequate for ice cream flavors that are primarily flavored by the additive, i.e. strawberry, Ube, Chocolate, The addition of the vanilla enhances the primary flavor.

Does what it's supposed too, but for the cost, I don't notice much a difference with this brand versus the less expensive brand

It was pretty good for imitation vanilla, it will never be as good as pure but when prices sky rocket- you’re left with second best and this did the job well.

We have used gallons of this product in cookies, cupcakes, dips, cakes and so many other recipes. It really is the best we've found and an amazing value. It is the closest we have found to real vanilla without paying real vanilla prices. We don't even consider any other vanilla any more and keep ordering this again and again. Just order it.

My go to brand for flavoring the Vanilla Extract arrives perfect every time no leaks or dents and the flavors work in my large batch bakes.

If you are looking for strong vanilla flavor, this is the one to go with. I ordered multiple brands to find what would work best and we will be using this for anything that needs a strong vanilla flavor.

I’ve purchased Shank’s real vanilla extract and loved it. However when I went to reorder it was double the price, so I had to begin looking for an alternative. As a test, I made batches of cookies with the real deal and imitation. No one was the wiser. I am a home baker who only bakes for family and friends, so I have no concerns around this being the only imitation ingredient I use in my baking.

Really nice! We use it in cookies since it's much cheaper than the real stuff, but in an application like that no one would notice the difference. Adds great color and flavor, not too overpowering or fake-tasting. Will buy again (if we ever run out!)

Not only is this product affordable, it is of great quality. We use it in many recipes including our house made coffee syrups, where the flavor means everything. I would highly suggest this product.

I was a little worried when I tasted this right out of the bottle because it has a bit of chemical taste to it. However, once it was mixed with other ingredients it was fine.

I use this imitation vanilla in my home kitchen. It is just as good and much less expensive than the vanilla I was purchasing in my local grocery store.

We use this Vanilla flavoring in our vanilla Malted Milkshakes and it is fantastic and a great value for the size. The taste is good.

This vanilla is comperable to any of the generic vanilla's you can buy at Costco. The flavor isn't too strong and there is none of that alcohol smell, and for the price it's worth it. I just wish it had a bit of a stronger flavor profile.

This is a great product! Vanilla is so expensive, but this imitation is a great substitute. I can’t tell a difference in the end result. We have used in cheesecakes & Creme brûlée.

I grew up outside of Lancaster, PA in the 1980's and my mother always had a bottle of Shank's Imitation Vanilla sitting in her kitchen cabinet. I happily stumbled across this familiar bottle on this website and ordered a bottle to try. I am so glad that I did. Nostalgia reasons aside, I find this imitation vanilla to be fine for my cooking and baking needs. So far I have made chocolate chip bars and pancakes using this product and they were delicious.

Love this vanilla! I own a small bakery and have tried many different vanilla extracts (both imitation and not). I find this is the best value for the product. Of course it isn't as great of quality as real vanilla extract, but keeping that in mind, this is a great budget friendly alternative. I purchased one 16oz bottle and went through it in almost a week and decided to order 3 more because I love it so much!

We used this to make a gingerbread flavored gourmet popcorn, and it worked great! Exactly what I needed! And it's also at a far better price than any local grocery stores.

The price of vanilla is quite ridiculous these days. We still use Pure vanilla extract in many of our recipes, but have found that this is a completely acceptable replacement in some backing recipes. Great vanilla flavor without the crazy cost!

only four stars just because you cant use it in frosting without giving it a caramel color. I like the clear better as it gives a more pure white color. But the price is good so i have used it in batters.

Shanks makes an excellent imitation vanilla, i like to use it in milkshakes and on french toast. The flavor is really good and i will reorder

I love the flavor of this Vanilla and get rave reviews for my American Buttercream that I use it in. I add it during the creaming of butter and shortening and mix until I get a pure white color, then add confectioners sugar and liquids. It doesn't effect the color one bit. Always pure white. Will continue to buy.

Normally Imitation Vanilla tastes like dirt with chemicals in it. Not this. It is perhaps the most realistic tasting imitation vanilla we've ever used. In a blind test to our existing vanilla, there was no comparison.
