Scratch and Dent Avantco CBE-72-HC 72" 4 Drawer Refrigerated Chef Base

STAY FAR AWAY !!! Worse than a piece of trash. Was delivered Dead on Arrival. Was referred to the "warranty department" who was supposed to get someone to come work on it. They never returned my call, and when I called them back, they finally got someone to come out. After having a non-working, yet NEW piece of equipment sitting in the middle of my floor for 4 days, the tech came out and said yep, we need to order a part for it, and that will probably take about 2 weeks. So, 2 weeks and 4 days to get a NEW piece of equipment to be able to work, and that's assuming it will work then. Webstaurant says to contact the warranty department, the warranty department says "we didn't sell the equipment to you", it's not their fault that the warranty is ONLY repair, not replace and doesn't care. We have purchased from Webstaurant for YEARS, but this is probably going to end this relationship.

Purchased this 2.5 years ago...The temperature control wire burned. They will not tell me what the replacement wire specs are....not even for me to replace on my own. What a joke.

I have used this unit since April of 2021. The unit hit 175 degrees inside about 1 year and one month after the warranty period. Thankfully they said someone screwed up it ended up being covered. One week later they had to come back and replace the control board. Less than 5 months later my unit no longer works anymore so 1.8 months is the useable life of these. I guess this is why this item is listed as one of the units with only a one year parts and labor warranty. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PEICE OF GARBAGE. I now have to purchase another unit after less than 2 years,,,

Avantco Brand is great! This chef base has helped our operation. Remember to keep the temp there are a few things you need to remember. If you do not have every space occupied, then it is best to have an empty 1/3 in there to help keep the cold in. Also, if you are using the base to place a grill or griddle on top of it, you must have a barrier (ceramic tiles work great) to allow the heat to absorb into that instead of spewing heat onto the refrigerated chef base. this is our third purchase of this, and will buy more when expanding.

Pans don't fit, it didn't come with the pans, but it also didn't say what size we needed. So I bought a 4 in as it said... but it dont fit

I’d like to leave zero stars. This base is the most unreliable piece of equipment I’ve ever purchased. After 2 + years of using, maybe 26 hours a week we need to replace the cooling coil. This replacement will cost as much as the original purchase. You get what you pay for…do NOT BUY.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT COMPRESSOR WONT EVEN LAST 2 years. At 6 months mark controller burned, now compressor out. Thi is worst than a toy

Almost blew up our kitchen! We ordered this unit 2 years ago (at twice the current price) and last week it blew up. The refrigerant (propane) leaked out of the unit and exploded. Not a good idea to put a unit that uses R290 under a grill where open flames are present.

Total junk. We've had nothing but problems with this unit over the last 4 years that we've had it. All under very normal restaurant usage. Pans don't fit correctly in the drawers. Drawers don't stay closed. Temperature probe fell apart. Gaskets have to replaced way too often. Doesn't hold temperature throughout the whole unit.

It dies the job but the shelves do break and it’s like a lot a side to fix ..

excellent addition to our kitchen it is wide enough to hold 72 total inches of equipment. Keeps all our food supplies cold and fresh.. only issue is getting the right 1/3 pans to fit the drawers.

This is a great refrigeration unit because i can easily place equipment on top of it . I have my range and griddle right above it . Very useful when you have limited space for your kitchen !

Don’t buy this product. It stopped working after 2 weeks. Also, you have to deal with third party to solve the issue

Holds temp well, however the drawers are useless, food pans will not fit properly, constantly falling and popping out. Very poor design.

Chef base is decent, pan sizes and dividers are off sizes. I needed to purchase long size 1/2 to fill the drawers. 1/3rd and 1/6 pans do not fit with the wide divider bars.

The only issue we have had is getting pans to seat properly in the chef base. The pans do fit, but you have to use some brute power to get them in and out. I hope this does not cause issues with the drawers as the unit ages. Other than that, it is great for our needs.

Got three years+ before it needed ~$ in repairs. Given that it costs a third or less than a True and other makers, it's a decent deal. Not the highest quality build, but it's hardly a given that a True unit would go significantly longer without needing repairs.

I like the unit itself and find it very functional. However, I have only had it less than six months and the refrigeration element is already leaking into the drawers and the floor. I have to call someone out to fix it. If it wasn't leaking, I'd love it. It's too bad.

Have had it in used for about 2 weeks. No issues. Holds temp. Only thing is the drawers get stuck sometimes. Other than that its been good.

Works Now. We ordered this arrived in good condition had a problem within the first 3 months, we contacted warranty and they sent a tech and fixed it quickly. As with all Avantco equipment its not the top of the line brand so get the extended warranty!

Horrible product. And when i reached out to webstaruant they want me to go through a warranty process with another company. Not happy with this purchase. And wish they would take responsibility for the products they sell.

We had poor communication with the company delivering the item. I called them a number of times. They had my phone number. They still did not call and let me know the delivery time. The unit was unloaded in our parking lot. I didn't know it was there. Better communication with third party freight companies would be something I hope you can work on.

It looks nice, but the drawers are about as strong as aluminum foil. Very flimsy. All 4 drawers had to be welded and screwed back together after about 6 months. Its just very very cheap and fragile.
