A compressed bar of loose Pu-Erh tea leaves, this Numi organic 2.2 oz. aged Pu-Erh tea brick is an energizing alternative to coffee. The compressed form allows for a more portable aging environment for the Pu-Erh tea. Unlike traditional teas that are oxidized for 8 hours, Pu-Erh undergoes a unique 60-day fermentation process that encourages microbial fermentation and oxidation after the tea leaves have been dried and rolled. This process results in a bold, earthy flavor with hints of malt and elevated levels of antioxidants. This tea is deeply satisfying, traditionally harvested from old growth trees in Yunnan province, China. Once brewed, it contains high caffeine levels, great for kickstarting the day or providing an extra boost in the afternoon.

To serve hot, break off 1 square and place in a 10 oz. teapot. Pu-erh should be rinsed before steeping to awaken the sleeping leaves. Pour boiling water to fill the pot halfway, swirl for several seconds and pour out the water. Fill the teapot and place a lid on the top; steep to the desired strength, or 2 minutes. Strain into your cup or a serving pitcher and enjoy! Each portion may be steeped 4 times. The first and second pots should be steeped for 2 minutes and the third and fourth for 3-4 minutes.

1 Numi aged Pu·erh brick
1 1/4 cup of boiling

Break off 1 square portion and place it in a 10 oz. teapot. Rinse the Pu-Erh to awaken the tea leaves by pouring 1/4 cup of boiling water over the tea. Swirl and immediately decant the water, leaving the leaves. Fill the teapot again with the remaining boiling water and cover. Steep for 2 minutes (or longer to attain the desired strength). Strain into two cups. Each portion may be re-steeped up to three times.
