Unlike other types of cookware, Lodge Cast Iron only gets better with use. For concerns about roughness, it is OK to use a fine grade of sandpaper to smooth out the rough areas. Make sure to re-season the item before using.

The Lodge 2 Qt. Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Serving Pot is a must have for any kitchen. It is heavy weight and comes pre-seasoned. It is great for camping. It is well worth the price.
Cast iron is the healthiest way to cook as it actually adds iron to your diet and doesn't have anything harmfut in it. This pot is heavy and small so good for one dish or a few people only but it is durable and it takes awhile to heat but then keeps the heat.
This is great for buffet style meals. It fits 2 qts of food, not to mention, its oval shape makes it look very elegant. I love it
I am a big fan of cooking and cast-iron and these Dutch oven's are perfect for presentation for large side dishes for a large group or entrées for an intimate dinner. They are of course everything you would expect from a lodge product, they cook on the stove top in the oven and go from oven to table for presentation as well. I found some round cutting boards with a handle that work perfectly as a caster for these little guys and they make A fantastic table presentation.
As with all lodge products, this is an excellent quality cast iron pot. Always versatile from going to stove top, to oven, to table. However, it's a little smaller than I anticipated. Please see my photo - not big enough to cook meals for more than two people just as a warning, not as a downfall of the product. If you are looking for something a little larger, i would suggest the 4 quart.
