Lodge cast iron is always top notch. This is no exception. Though this will not be used for everyday cooking it is being used for a smoking accessory got grill tops smoking when a full blown smoker is not practical. It was chosen because cast iron holds up well in high heat situations.
This is a good quality well made cast iron kettle. It came with the proper season so that saved a lot of work. Truly an A+ product!
I have been using mine for soup bowls, warm them wherever heat is available than pour in the soup or , I guess , visa versa, and set them out for consumption. They have proved to be quite stable and ruggedly attractive. When used with the 5 inch lid I haven't had occasion to find out just how long the contents will remain hot let alone warm. It gives me a fairly long serving window. And 16 ounce is a manly amount. I also like the bale handle, it is just plain convenient.
Lodge never disappoints! These are rustic, sturdy, and so cute! I will be using my country kettles daily, and these look and feel like they can withstand the abuse.
