Microfiber cloths have many advantages over traditional cloths. But first, what is a microfiber cloth? On a microfiber cloth, the individual fibers that make up the cloth are hundreds of times smaller than the human hair. What this means for cleaning, is that a single cloth has millions of tiny scrubbing fibers that work on dirt at a microscopic level, which will minimize or even eliminate the need for water or chemicals. When used dry, these cloths have a static charge that picks up dust particles. The millions of fibers also make microfiber absorbent. Some cloths can even absorb up to 6 times their weight in water. That's 4 times more than cotton cloths. One of my favorite uses for microfiber is polishing. Whether on glass or on stainless steel, there's often no chemical or water needed to clean off water spots or fingerprints. On glassware or food serving vessels, like chafers, that's a big advantage. For window washing, you can use microfiber cloths with no cleaners for light soil, or with some water and cleaners for heavier soil. For general cleanup, microfiber's absorbency makes your job so much easier. Not only do the scrubbing fibers minimize the need for cleaners, but the polishing action eliminates water marks and spots.
