I really love this pasta roller and pretty much everything else that KitchenAid makes. It is very easy to attach to a mixer. I had a stand alone manual pasta maker before. Using this attachment I can make pasta a lot faster with minimal effort. I use the Inn at Little Washington's pasta recipe from their cookbook - it's absolutely delicious.

This pasta roller is very easy to use. There are 9 different settings. 1 is the thickest. 9 is the thinest. 9 is paper paper thin. The highest I've gone is 6, because the dough seems to get really, really thin. If you were going to roller thinner, I'd use smaller pieces of dough. I've seen this pasta roller used for gumpaste and fondant too, though the instructions recommend only rolling out pasta dough.

Makes the job of rolling pasta out much easier and more enjoyable. We have used this with the other attachments to make great homemade pasta. Have also used it to make flat sheets for ravioli. It does take some practice to get the right consistency of dough for it to not tear.

I love making pasta with my aunt using her hand-cranked machine. That's hard to do one handed though, and the pasta extruder I purchased was a disappointment. I can work these rollers solo, which is near impossible with a hand crank. Great investment. Works great for homemade crackers too.
