I bought this so that I’d have a 2nd whip at the ready in the kitchen. I’m nervous because the reviews for this on Kitchen Aid’s website were very negative – folks reported the coating was rubbing off on their hands and in the food. I hope that theirs was just a defect – maybe the one’s Webstaurant sells are made from a different material? Hoping that mine will not do this if I was it by hand.

While this is a decent attachment I’m not exactly thrilled with the structure and the materials made to manufacture it. If you don’t use the correct size bowl you can all but gaurantee that this piece will break. Also, when you’re mixing flour heavy goodies the batter tends to clump up and stick to the inside of the wire bowl which can either be a minor inconvenience or a major one depending on the day of the week.

We use this attachment every now and then to make the batter for chile rellenos and it does a real good job. It mixes lots of air in the batter which is what we want creating a nice and fluffy rellenos. It's a little bit hard to clean, getting in between each spine. Worth it for the good product that it produces.
