Flat tongs are good for things like lettuce or a slaw topping. Great for bread slices! The do not work well for grabbing pickles or olives. The food slips out easily.

They are made of plastic. Metal would be more preferable, but I want to say that with proper and careful handling, they will last for many years. Gripping places are made conveniently, so with such forceps it is unlikely that the products will drop out when using them.
