The sultan tips pipe a pretty ring shape that's great for everything from meringue or spritz cookies to cupcake frosting. When used for meringue cookies, they're great for decorating cakes and go well with mermaid themed ones. I prefer the look of the protruding cone sultan tip but like to also have this flat cone version for cupcake frosting. When I piped a double layer of cupcake frosting using the protruding cone version, it left a huge hole in the middle that required too much filling to close. This flat cone version pipes more frosting toward the center so there is a more reasonable, smaller space for filling.
