The wooden holder’s side walls are too low and box too wide to stabilize a bagel and cut it safely, as shown in the picture provided. The inner box accommodating a bagel is 2 inches wide, 4.5 inches long, and 1.5-2 inches high. If your routine bagel size is smaller, you must position it carefully in the center of the box, hand on top of a knife aligned to the end slits, and hope the knife is sharp enough to bite into the bagel and cut it cleanly. Unfortunately, the “Choice 9" White Offset Serrated Edge Bread Knife” that I purchased along with the holder was not up to the task! Beware, once used to slice one bagel, you may not return the holder or knife!
