Job Summary

Warehouse Material Handlers are responsible for efficiently and accurately receiving and shipping customer orders to ensure they are processed in a timely and secure manner. This position requires minimal forklift operation. Warehouse Material Handlers are given extensive training for success in their position. You will be expected to be fast-paced and attentive to detail, willing to work hard with a good attitude, and able to embrace change. SHIFT SCHEDULE

  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM 
  • Starting wage is $22.00/hr (which includes a $2.00/hr shift differential) and a potential of up to $0.88 in raises every 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Check-in and put away incoming warehouse inventory.
  • Packing orders to ensure that customers receive order intact in as short time frame and accurate as possible while maintaining quality and accuracy. 
  • Downsizing packaging so that shipping costs are minimal without sacrificing the quality and insurance that the product will be delivered without damages to the customer 
  • Bill and ship completed orders to the customer with provided warehouse software 
  • Palletize and load finished shipments onto trailer with provided equipment 
  • Safely operating and maintaining warehouse equipment to carry out job duties to ensure a safe work environment 
  • Communicating with warehouse supervisor with any issues or concerns that arise regarding work duties 
  • Performing other duties and tasks not listed as requested by the supervisor 


Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 1 year+ of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required


Education

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience


Desired Traits

  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
